About this retreat
As part of our Fall Drumming Retreat, participants will create their own leather Medicine Shield as a symbol of their personal spiritual journey.
Traditionally, Medicine Shields were considered sacred objects, decorated with meaningful symbols that reflected an individual's vision, strengths, and spiritual guidance. In many Indigenous traditions, the word medicine refers not to physical healing, but to sacred power, spiritual wisdom, and the life-giving energy that brings balance and purpose.
Inspired by this symbolism, each participant will create a personal shield that reflects their own journey of faith, hope, healing, and transformation. Through prayer, reflection, drumming, and creativity, your shield will become a meaningful reminder of your unique path and the inner strength, wisdom, and guidance that continue to shape your life.
No artistic experience is necessary—only an open heart and a willingness to reflect on the journey that has brought you to this moment.
